How it Works

About the Treatment

Dermal infusion treatments are used to diminish the appearance of increased pigmentation, fine lines, and other skin conditions. The treatment uses a device with a diamond tip wand, to exfoliate the skin while infusing it with a customized serum.

Risks, Side Effects & Complications

After treatment the skin may feel tight, like it can after exposure to sun or wind. This is normal.

Most side effects are rare, temporary, and generally subside within 72 hours, including redness, swelling, bruising, stinging, tenderness, dry or flaking skin, or lightening or darkening of skin.

It is possible but unlikely to develop an allergic reaction to the infusion solutions.

Anytime the skin barrier is broken, there is a very small risk of bacterial or viral infection.

Precautions and Warnings

Protect your skin from the sun – use a sunscreen with a high SPF. This is especially important for two weeks after treatment.

If you ever develop cold sore outbreaks, please tell your provider – a cold sore outbreak can increase the risk of scars or discoloration. You may need to be pre-treated with antiviral medication.

Do not wear contact lenses during the treatment.

Do not use glycolic acid, AHA, or retinol/retinoid products (including prescription tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene or trifarotene) for 48 hours before the treatment.

Quick answers to questions you may have

Is there any downtime after dermal infusion?

Dermal infusion has little to no downtime, making it one of the most popular lunchtime skin treatments at our Hamilton clinic. You may notice mild redness or sensitivity right after your session, with your skin looking smoother and more radiant over the following days.

How soon will I see results from dermal infusion?

Most patients see smoother, brighter, and more hydrated skin immediately after their first dermal infusion treatment, with results continuing to improve over the days that follow as the customized serum absorbs into the skin.

How often should I get dermal infusion treatments?

For best results, we recommend dermal infusion every 4–6 weeks, though your provider will tailor a schedule based on your skin goals — whether that’s managing pigmentation, fine lines, or overall skin health.

What's the difference between dermal infusion, microdermabrasion, and microneedling?

All three treatments rejuvenate the skin, but each works differently:

  • Dermal infusion exfoliates the skin while infusing it with a customized serum for targeted hydration and brightening.
  • Microdermabrasion physically removes dead skin cells and clears clogged pores for a smoother texture.
  • Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production, helping reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven texture.
