Risks, Side Effects & Complications

After treatment the skin may feel tight, like it can after exposure to sun or wind. This is normal.

Most side effects are rare, temporary, and generally subside within 72 hours, including redness, swelling, bruising, stinging, tenderness, dry or flaking skin, or lightening or darkening of skin.

It is possible but unlikely to develop an allergic reaction to the infusion solutions.

Anytime the skin barrier is broken, there is a very small risk of bacterial or viral infection.

Precautions and Warnings

Protect your skin from the sun – use a sunscreen with a high SPF. This is especially important for two weeks after treatment.

If you ever develop cold sore outbreaks, please tell your provider – a cold sore outbreak can increase the risk of scars or discoloration. You may need to be pre-treated with antiviral medication.

Do not wear contact lenses during the treatment.

Do not use glycolic acid, AHA, or retinol/retinoid products (including prescription tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene or trifarotene) for 48 hours before the treatment.
